Ephémère

Ephémère.
Regardez-les passer, ces couples éphémères !
Dans les bras l'un de l'autre enlacés un moment,
Tous, avant de mêler à jamais leurs poussières,
Font le même serment :
Toujours ! Un mot hardi que les cieux qui vieillissent
Avec étonnement entendent prononcer,
Et qu'osent répéter des lèvres qui pâlissent
Et qui vont se glacer...

Look at passing them, these ephemeral couples !
In the intertwined arms one of the other one moment,
All, before mixing their dust forever,
Make the same oath:
Always ! A bold word that the skies which age
With astonishment intend to pronounce,
And that dare to repeat of the lips which fade
And which will be frozen…
